Project Spotlight: Fairmount Townhouse

I really love working on a project with clients that have great taste. My Fairmount townhouse client’s have an appreciation for quality furniture that tells a story and makes a statement. While scheming over their family room furnishings we have taken into consideration that this space will be an entertainment area. It needs to be a comfortable room to put your feet up and be prepared for spills from messy teenagers or a friendly dog. They like neutral color palettes with additions of bright blues and reds.

In their existing floor plan the sectional was floating towards the middle of the room. As you can see above, I have pushed the sectional to the corner of the space to open the room up more and also allow some much needed seating. I also pushed their existing desk towards the windows more to make room for the printer storage unit. The corner near the stairs is turning into a lounging area with an oversized chair, ottoman, and perfect accent table for a drink.

I chose a coffee table that had a lot of texture. Although raffia is a durable material, this is a room meant for young adults and gaming so I am having a glass top custom made for extra protection and for ease of cleaning. The swivel chair from Calligaris is going to be in a terrific bright orange fabric. We are planning on brining that same color into the throw pillows and accessories as well. The lounge chair in the corner is incredibly comfortably. It’s going to have a grey textural fabric to tie in the dark gray from the existing sectional. I can’t get enough of these Moroccan poufs! I specify them for so many clients because they are versatile and work in lots of environments. They bring in another material other than fabric and they look fabulous! We needed storage near the desk to hide the printer away. This piece was just the ticket and also has a ton of additional storage underneath to keep things tidy since their current desk is lacking drawers. Contrary to what is shown, the yellow end table will actually be in a very deep, midnight blue. It will blend really nicely with the rug and also compliment the bright orange chair. The other bone inlay accent table is perfect for more contrast in the room. The more materials, the merrier! One of my favorite details in the family room is the custom cabinetry above the desk and sectional. These wall units from Calligaris come in multiple finish options. We chose a dark walnut to match the floors, a grayish tone, and then brick red. Having the array of finishes and configuration will make them appear as art on the wall..

I can’t wait to see it all come together. Keep your eye out for more updates!
