Project Spotlight: Willowdale Kid's Room

This was a fun project I did for a family with 2 little girls. The house is an adorable colonial twin, which means small rooms! The kid’s room is just the right size for 2 sweet twin beds and a small play area with plenty of storage. The room already has a small walk in closet with just the right amount of clothes storage so I didn’t have to sacrifice any of the floor plan for dressers. What I did do instead was make sure to specify furniture that had storage for toys and books. I didn’t want to overcrowd this room with unnecessary furniture, so everything was selected with functionality and purpose. The little girls love florals so I specified the most perfect english style wallpaper throughout the room. This will add so much color and personality to the space. I think the dark wood furniture will really pop against the brilliant wallpaper and keep to the colonial style of the home.

The twin beds are my absolute favorite. They have a vintage design, but the white really makes it current. The sconces above the bed will be functional and leave plenty of room for books on the chest that they will share between the beds. I love these bed linens. The coral and yellow bring out the floral in the wallpaper and the mixing of patterns plaid, stripes, and polka dots are so playful! The flushmount light fixture is very precious. It mimics the florals that they love so much and also ties in the brass that is in the sconces. The shag rug that will go between the beds in the perfect material to place your feet on. I wanted a large area rug for play time and this one not only fit the room, but brought in all of those lovely colors that are already in the space. The wicker baskets and trunk add the perfect amount of texture. Can’t wait to see how everything looks in place!
