Shop Local
Holiday shopping has arrived and it’s a comfort to know you won’t have to look any further than your own backyard for terrific gift ideas. If you have someone in the family who is a lover of home decor or just beautiful things in general, then I will make things simple for you. This is a special post to shout out specifically to all of the talented local artisans in my cute little town of West Chester.
Atwater Designs: Using the cyanotype photographic process, artist Sarah Rafferty produces brilliant blue originals and prints of plants from Chester County. Along with wall decor she also produces soft belgian linen pillows, the sweetest greeting cards, and wrapping paper that you won’t want to throw away. If you need something custom, Sarah commissions her art and helps to find the right design and fit for your needs. For more information please follow her on Instragram @atwaterdesigns and visit her website www.atwaterdesigns.com.
Rachel Altschuler: Finding her inspiration in nature, Rachel creates stunning paintings of birds from roosters to owls and everything in between. She captures their beauty with purposeful brushstrokes and vivid colors. Rachel’s concentration to detail in their eyes really brings them alive. Her art work can complement modern and traditional homes and would be the perfect gift for a bird lover, the outdoors, or anyone who appreciates something simply beautiful. Visit her instagram @rachelaltschuler_artdesign and her website www.rmaad.com to view her portfolio and information on where to purchase.

The Knot Chick Studio: Macrame is so hot right now and how nice is it that the talented Laurie Baum lives in West Chester with her creative macrame wall hangings and plant hangers. Working with a variety of colors, she can customize for you or you can purchase one of her designs on her Etsy account https://www.etsy.com/shop/theknotchickstudio. This fun macrame decor will radiate all of the bohemian vibes that your special someone will treasure. Make sure to also check out Laurie’s Instagram for her latest creations @the.knot.chick.
As much as I LOVE the ease of shopping at big box stores, buying locally supports your town and those small businesses behind it. What a perfect time of the year to support your local artisans. Make sure to check out your local talent before making your next Amazon purchase.
